Discovery: what you really need, before we build anything.
A half- to full-day workshop with the people who'll actually use the system. Not with a representative. Not with the IT lead alone. With the people working with it every day.
We listen, challenge assumptions, document. No pitch on our side. No "we can also do this".
How the workshop runs
- 4 to 8 hours moderated session, on-site or remote
- 5 to 10 people from the relevant roles: sales, service, operations, leadership
- Stakeholder interviews individually or in small groups
- Current-state capture: what works, what hurts, where the workarounds live
- Target picture and success metrics: how you'll know the system is doing its job
Why this isn't in the requirements doc
The requirements written in the spec are rarely the real requirements. The real ones emerge when someone tells you where they're stuck today, what workaround they built, and what aggravates them every Monday. Skip this and you build past actual needs, and notice six months into live operation.
What you walk out with
Documented requirements
Prioritised by effort and value. Not just the explicit ones, also the ones visible between the lines.
Stakeholder map
Who decides, who uses, who approves. With clear responsibilities for the rollout.
Target picture and metrics
What success looks like, how you measure it, when we both agree: the system holds.
Quick-wins list
What can be improved before the actual system rollout. Sometimes without any software change at all.
What comes next
Once requirements are clear, we map the processes the system has to support. That's process mapping.
